Wishing you a very happy new year full of love, joy, and peace!

There is a momentous energy about crossing from one threshold to another. Moving from one year to another holds this power and energy. And it should be honored. But you must also remember that we are always moving across momentous thresholds – every week, every day, every moment. We are constantly marching forward. Remember to claim yourself and your highest vision for yourself in each moment. Make them all count. Create that beautiful life anew in every moment. You hold the power.

Practice: Take stock of how far you’ve come and honor yourself and your accomplishments. Not just the physical or work accomplishment, but the mental, emotional, and healing accomplishments you’ve made. You must honor yourself to truly move forward. In what way can you honor yourself? How does it feel to do this? If you find yourself thinking of all the ways you haven’t done what you wanted to, write them all down. Get them out of your head. This is a great intention and focus list for tomorrow. Now remember how far you’ve come and honor yourself for it. You’ve done hard work this year. Acknowledge it.

When visibility is limited and things aren’t clear, it’s time to turn your attention inward. What have you been avoiding? You cannot control the weather aka the people, circumstances, and happenings outside of you. But you can control your responses to them. You can fortify the storm doors and raise the building. You hold the power over you. Turn towards that which you’ve been avoiding and love it into healing.

Practice: Think about a situation or feeling that you have been avoiding, dismissing, minimizing, or distracting from. It needs your attention and care now. We can neither grow nor heal without caring about that which we want to avoid. Sit with this feeling and focus. What is coming up for you? Where are you feeling it in your body? Does it feel unbearable or uncomfortable? Can you give yourself credit for addressing it now? Can you explore the connected aspects a bit more? See what you uncover.

Trust. Trust that everything has been designed for you. Divinely constructed for your benefit. Exquisitely and expertly crafted. You are not and have never been in this alone.

Practice: Play with the ideas of faith and trust. How do each feel in your body? Can you be open to the idea that life is on your side? How does that feel? How does it feel to affirm that this life is meant for you because you are divinely constructed for it? When we accept the hard stuff in our lives, we can use them to create the best stuff in our lives.

Water Wisdom: Change Your Perspective

Change your perspective. Sometimes things feel just out of reach. Circumstances outside your control are dictating a situation, preventing you from what you want. This is when a change of perspective can make all the difference. Things are not always as they seem. New possibilities abound. Be open.

Practice: Choose an example of something you are currently experiencing that you feel you have limited control over. Brainstorm some different takes on the situation. Are there other ways of understanding the situation? Are there things to be grateful for in or because of this situation? Are there other possibilities available for addressing this situation? Write them all down so you can look at what you come up with. You don’t have to like or agree with the ideas, you just have to be open to knowing them. Reread through the list and see if anything clicks or pings for you. Explore that perspective or idea further. Don’t be afraid to mull it over and let it percolate. Change happens in the journey, not the destination.

Surreal. See the world, your life, yourself, your experiences with new eyes. Look without judgment, without understanding. Look with open awareness and just witness. Observe without attachment. See it all with new eyes.

Practice: Have you ever looked at a word so long that it no longer looks like that word to you? Or when looking at something, your eyes have gone soft and the scene has become blurry? This is what we’re going for. Observing something while allowing the lack of clarity and connection we usually seek. It may feel odd or disconcerting at first. This is just our subconscious attempting to anchor us back into our reality. But there is always more than meets the eye and we’re making space for that now. Practice nonattachment while looking at a variety of things. What happens? Is it hard or easy for you? Play with it.

Water Wisdom: Truth

Truth. To truly see truth is a gift. Most people live in a sort of fog of their own programming, baggage, and traumas. Most situations they view are colored by these things, whether they recognize it or not. Discernment is the key to overriding this setting. You must understand your truth is not another’s truth nor is it objective truth. Find your way through the fog carefully and with compassion for all.

Practice: Identify a situation where you are suspicious that your truth, someone else’s truth, and objective truth are not in alignment with one another. Study the situation from all sides. Don’t just rely on your rationality of the situation. What might have been driving your thoughts? What might have been influencing the other person? What is objectively true in this situation? State the smallest pieces of objective truth. Keep asking questions and dig deeper. See what you uncover.

Practice: Watch a sunset, sunrise, or other beautiful natural phenomenon. Allow yourself to relax into the peace and beauty of it. Let the glory of this pure natural beauty wash over you. Immerse yourself fully in it. See it, hear it, feel it with every sense. How does this experience feel? Remember this feeling and carry it with you.
