Practice: How do you sit with and honor the hard stuff? Difficult feelings? Upsetting events? Moments, days, weeks of unease? Can you meet the feelings of unbalance with the feelings of peace? Can you embrace both and?

Cultivating love is our responsibility. It’s each and every person’s responsibility. We often wait for others to show us we are loved and lovable. But that’s not where our love truly stems from. We are intrinsically loved, lovable, and loving. It is our birthright. We must own it, share it, and be it.

Practice: How do you experience love in your life? Is it a feeling, a concept, a gift? How do you create it? How do you share it? How do you receive it? What blocks to love do you perceive? Do you believe you are capable of cultivating more love in your life? Each morning when you wake up, put your hand over your heart and say, “I love you, (your name).”

Practice: Today, look for an opportunity to help someone. This might be a physical act, an act of listening, of holding space, of understanding, of showing up. When you engage with this person, keep in mind how you are connected and interconnected. At the end of your day, feel gratitude for this person, this connection, and the interconnectedness you experience with them.

Peace Place Continued. You have to find and continually revisit your peace place. It must touch you deep in your heart and soul. You must feel aligned and nourished there. And you must access that feeling, the energy of that place every day. It must become so true and clear to you, that it’s more powerful than the stress, anxiety, fear, or fatigue you’re experiencing.

Practice: What is your peace place? See it fully and clearly in your mind. See yourself fully and clearly there. How do you feel in place? Feel those feelings in your body. Sit with them. Revisit this place and these feelings often throughout your day. Practice in moments of struggle. See if you can feel that peace even for just one second. Maybe it will be two seconds next visit.

Focus. Focusing on focus. There is a difference between what calls for our focus and where we actually put our focus. We must learn to discern this. Don’t be discouraged if it doesn’t come easily. This is the practice of mindfulness in action.

Practice: Focus on your breath – breathing in, breathing out. Notice when your mind wanders off. What did it start thinking about? Did you hear a noise? Feel a sensation? Can those things be present as you refocus on your breath? It’s easy for us to get pulled in many different directions and feel like we have no control. But we can learn to focus and refocus again and again on what is important to us.

Determination and fortitude in peace. On the surface, they seem in opposition to one another. But we must wield determination and fortitude if we want to create lasting inner and outer peace for ourselves and the world.

Practice: How do you show up for peace, both inner and outer? Are they different things to you? Do you feel inner peace is just a state you sometimes experience because of outside forces? Do you feel you have some control over creating inner peace? How do you approach outer peace? How do you understand determination and fortitude when approaching peace of any kind? Feel what determination feels like in your body. Feel what fortitude feels like in your body. Feel what peace feels like in your body. Play with feeling them all at the same time. Determination and fortitude protects your peace and supports you as you create it.

Release, release, release. You do not need to carry these heavy bags any longer. You don’t need to see it clearly, to understand the ins and outs, or find closure. You can just put it down and walk away. Not your circus, not your monkeys.

Practice: What have you been holding onto that you don’t want to hold onto anymore? Imagine this as a blob or other object inside of you. With your hand, pull it out of your body. Then throw it away or place it on the ground and see the earth swallow it up. Place your hand on your heart and send love and compassion to yourself.

Find your peace place. Connect with it. Allow it to lift and heal you. Carry it with you always.

Practice: Think of a place in nature that brings you peace, makes you feel connected, and where you just feel good. If this is a place you can easily visit, go there and soak in the energy of this special place. If you cannot easily go there in person, you can go there in your mind. Close your eyes and bring this place to mind. See it in as much detail as you can. What does it look like? What does it feel like? How do you feel when thinking of it? Notice any physical sensations you experience. Remember that you can visit this place of peace any time in your mind and do so often. Notice how it shifts your energy, thoughts, and feelings in the moment and over time.

Recent Energy

If you’ve been struggling more this week, you are not alone. If you’ve felt an increase in depression, anxiety, fatigue, tiredness, pain, or intense feelings or moods, you are not alone. If you felt stalled, stuck, or stymied, you are not alone. If you felt old stuff coming back up again, you are not alone. It’s been a week plus of funky energy. The new moon, the end of mercury retrograde, and heavy collective energy were a perfect storm over the last week or two. So if you’ve been feeling it, please know you aren’t alone. This is just a moment in time. It will pass. You are safe and loved.
