Today is Day 47 of the Live Daily Guided Healing Meditation series for ourselves and the world. 47 days! I am so grateful for the incredible commitment to love and healing so many have shared thus far.
This meditation practice started as a way to bring more love and healing into the world during the fear and uncertainty of the Coronavirus for ourselves as individuals and for the world at large. Obviously, the Coronavirus is still active and there’s much more healing to come on that front.
However, after the last few days and weeks, it has become abundantly clear to many that we have another more prevalent and deadly virus that is at the forefront of our minds, hearts, and bodies now: racism. Obviously, racism is not new and it’s always been prevalent and deadly. But after the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery, we have been reminded yet again of the great need for personal, systematic, and institutionalized change, and that there is no time like the present to make those changes happen.
This has always been of great importance to me. In college, I created my own major that focused on the intersection of race, ethnicity, class, gender, and sexuality. The education and relearning I have done over the years has been vital to who I am and want to be as a person, a medium, a healer, and someone who supports and lifts others up so they can live their healthiest and happiest lives. No matter what group you are a part of, you are affected by racism, whether you realize it or not, likely in many very subtle and not so subtle ways. It is the responsibility of white allies to do the inner work, to relearn, to be anti-racist, and to bring the necessary changes and healing into reality. There is a lot of work to do, but human beings are divine beings and we are truly capable of doing hard things. There is so much more to say on this subject and I look forward to the conversations, shifts, heart openings, relearnings, and healings that come.
So now, with a deep understanding of where we are and where we must go, just as we grow, heal, learn, and evolve as individuals, our meditation practice must also grow, heal, learn, and evolve. It is with this in mind that I am shifting the focus of the Live Daily Guided Healing Meditation series from Covid-19 healing to racism healing.
Additionally, today, Tuesday, June 2, 2020, I am honoring the mission of Blackout Tuesday. Instead of leading my own meditation, I am asking you to listen to and meditate with the incredible Ruth King. Please check out her important work.
Thank you for continuing to share your love in these difficult and important times. I look forward to this journey together!
