Water Wisdom: Intense Feelings

Intense feelings. We’re designed to experience intense feelings. It’s part of our earthly experience. Anger, pain, heartbreak, despair, rage, shame, guilt, etc. They’re all valid and reasonable. When we resist, however, they persist and that’s where the true damage is done. You need to let them flow and go.

Practice: How do you experience intense feelings? Do you resist, ignore, dismiss, invalidate, or avoid them? Do you allow yourself to feel them fully and let them go? Something in between? Next time you’re experiencing an intense feeling, find a private space. While standing, allow your body to express the feelings in whatever way it wants. Move with the feelings, make noises. Our intense feelings often get trapped in our bodies so moving our body with the feeling allows it to be seen, felt, expressed, and moved out.
